  • Narrator: It was a perfect summer day. The kind of day that just makes you want to kick something over and over.
  • Curious George: (chattering)
  • Narrator: Which is just what George was doing.
  • Curious George: (groans) (chattering)
  • Man with the Yellow Hat: Hey, you're improving, George. You just need to keep practicing.
  • Curious George: (chatters)
  • Man with the Yellow Hat: Sure! The way to get better at anything is with lots of practice. Ooh, hey! You better get going. You're dog-sitting Charkie today, right?
  • Curious George: (groans) Oh. (chattering)
  • Narrator: If only there was a way to dog-sit and practice kicking.
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Curious George: (chattering)
  • Aunt Margaret: Hi, George. Thanks for doing this. I'll only be at the hairdresser's for one hour.
  • Curious George: (chattering)
  • Aunt Margaret: I'd take Charkie with me, but some people are allergic to dogs.
  • Curious George: (chattering)
  • Aunt Margaret: You're welcome to sit Charkie in my apartment.
  • (Curious George dreams about him and Charkie)
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Curious George: (chattering)
  • Aunt Margaret: Or you could stay outside. Charkie likes the park.
  • Charkie: (barking) (dreams about Curious George playing soccer ball)
  • Curious George: (chatters)
  • Aunt Margaret: All right. Have fun. Oh, Betsy and Steve say once or twice Charkie has slipped away, so please keep an eye on her.
  • Curious George: (chatters) (groans) (chatters) (chattering)
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Curious George: (hooting) (chattering)
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Curious George: Phew. (chattering) Ah.
  • Narrator: If Charkie could get off her leash this easily, George would never get a chance to practice kicking... unless he did it right here.
  • Curious George: (chattering)
  • Narrator: It wasn't the park, but it'd do. And best of all, it had its own soccer goal.
  • Curious George: Aha! (chattering) (laughing)
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Curious George: Hey.
  • Narrator: Some dogs don't know the difference between play and practice.
  • Curious George: (chattering) (chatters)
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Curious George: (chattering) Aw. (chattering) (chattering) Aha.
  • Narrator: Chasing Charkie did have its rewards.
  • Curious George: (chatters) (sighs and gasps) (chattering)
  • Narrator: Charkie wasn't gonna squeeze under there again.
  • Curious George: (chattering)
  • Narrator: Now practice!
  • Charkie: (excited barking)
  • Curious George: Huh?
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Curious George: Huh? Uh-uh, uh-uh. (chattering) (chatters) Hmm. (chattering)
  • Narrator: George needed to stop her from getting through the gate.
  • Curious George: Aha! (chattering)
  • Charkie: (excited barking)
  • Curious George: (angry chattering)
  • Charkie: (whimpering) (barking)
  • Curious George: (yelling)
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Curious George: (yelling)
  • (crash)
  • Curious George: (chattering)
  • Narrator: Dog-sitting sure didn't involve any sitting... or soccer practice. He kept her from going under or through the gate. Now he had to keep her from going through window.
  • Curious George: Ah. (grunting)
  • Narrator: This metal desk was heavy enough to keep Charkie right here.
  • Curious George: (groans)
  • (loud thud)
  • (Mrs. Dulson shuts the window)
  • (cow mooing)
  • Narrator: It looked like George had to just sit there and watch the dog, because every time he thought he had every escape covered, Charkie escaped anyway.
  • Curious George: Ah.
  • (cow mooing)
  • Curious George: (hooting)
  • Narrator: He didn't have to watch her if he could hear exactly where she was. Now he could practice in peace.
  • (mooing) (mooing) (mooing continues)
  • Narrator: George realized a good player must learn to ignore distractions like mooing dogs.
  • Curious George: Huh? (chattering) (yelling)
  • Narrator: George really lost Charkie this time. He couldn't even hear that dog mooing anymore.
  • Curious George: (groans)
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Curious George: Huh? (laughing)
  • Girl: Is that your dog?
  • Curious George: (hooting)
  • Charkie: (barks)
  • Girl: She lost her moo-er. Here. She's the best soccer goalie I ever saw... with four legs.
  • Curious George: Huh?
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Narrator: George didn't think Charkie even liked soccer. He didn't need a leash or a fence to keep Charkie from running away.
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Narrator: Charkie didn't want to escape. She was just looking for someone who'd play ball with her.
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Curious George: Hooray! (chattering)
  • Aunt Margaret: There you are. Oh, I'm glad I came back when I did. This gate's open.
  • Charkie: (barks)
  • Aunt Margaret: Good thing Charkie didn't notice. She's very lively. Once or twice she's run away.
  • Curious George: (chattering)
  • Aunt Margaret: We're going to the park, George. Would you like to come?
  • Curious George: Uh-huh! Uh-huh!
  • Charkie: (barking)
  • Aunt Margaret: Whoa. If you fall behind, look for us in the par...!
  • Narrator: George would get lots of practice now. Charkie was the greatest soccer partner imaginable... except for the dog drool on the ball problem.
  • Boy #1: George is a monkey and sometimes he does things that we can't do. He was making a place to keep Charkie, but she kept getting away.
  • Girl #1: We're building a new home for the guinea pigs.
  • Girl #2: This could be, like, a tunnel that the guinea pigs could go through.
  • Boy #2: We can put the tube right in the hole, so they can get in their other part of the house.
  • Teacher: This is something only an adult can do.
  • Girl #2: I know.
  • Teacher: And we have to see if the guinea pigs can get through.
  • (kids laughing)
  • Girl #3: He doesn't fit.
  • Boy #1: His back is so big.
  • Boy #2: We just take 'em out and then make sure these holes are exactly lined up.
  • Boy #3: Let's try it.
  • Girl #3: I think you should make the hole a little bit bigger.
  • Boy #3: Yes! (whooping) Yeah!
