Man with the Yellow Hat: Let's go to the art show this afternoon, George!
Narrator: Said the man with the yellow hat.
Man with the Yellow Hat: I always got some good paintings.
Narrator: After lunch, they got into their little blue car and drove off.
Man with the Yellow Hat: I see a friend over there, George!
Narrator: Said the man.
Man with the Yellow Hat: You can stay here and watch the artist paint, but don't get into trouble.
Narrator: Some artists had started their pictures. One artist was painting a bowl of fruit and another was painting some flowers and still another was sketching the lines and circles and squares. Soon, George got tired of watching, climbing the tree.
Painter #1: Look!
Narrator: Said a painter.
Painter #1: What an unusual subject! A monkey in a tree! That's what I'm going to paint!
Narrator: After a while, George climbed down and looked at the painting of a bowl of fruit. The artist was there. George took the brush and put some paint on the picture. Then he went over to the next painting. This artist was talking to a friend. George had his own touch. Next came the painting with a circle and squares. This one needed a lot of work. George picked up some brushes, then he dipped them into the paint and went to work. Now George was a real painter!
Woman: You ruined my canvas!
Narrator: Shouted the woman. She was angry. It was time to get away. (Curious George zooms past) George climbed back up the tree and hid in the branches. Now he was safe.
Woman: I'll have to tell the chairman!
Narrator: Said the angry woman. And off she went. Now the coast was clear, George started swinging back and forth, back and forth. Soon, the woman came back with the chairman.
Woman: There he is! That's the monkey!
Narrator: She shouted. The other artists rushed over.
Painter #2: He messed up my work!
Narrator: Cried one of the painters.
Painter #3: Mine too!
Narrator: Shouted another painter.
Painter #3: Somebody catch him before he's worse!
Narrator: Yelled another one. George was surrounded. The artists were angry. They're shaking their fists at him. George looked around, he was trapped. Below where the judges walking up and down, examining each painting carefully. Which painting would win? George was curious. Finally, a judge reached for one of the paintings that George had worked on.
Chairman: Look here!
Narrator: He said.
Chairman: A most excellent work! The best in the show!
Painter #1: It deserves the blue ribbon! Where is the artist?
Woman: Here I am!
Narrator: Said the woman. The judge turned her out.
Painter #1: Suppereb!
Narrator: He said.
Woman: But just a moment!
Narrator: Said the woman, and pointed to the tree.
Woman: (off-screen) Please come down, George! Everything's all right!
Narrator: The woman turned to the judges.
Woman: He's the one who helped me finished the painting. Should he get a blue ribbon too?
Chairman: Of course!
Narrator: Said the chairman, and he put a ribbon on George. Everyone clapped and cheered. (people applauds and cheers) The man with the yellow hat came over.
The Man with the Yellow Hat: I'm glad to see you didn't get to any trouble. And guess what? I brought a painting! How do you like it?
Narrator: They got into their little blue car and drove home. (the car drives away)
