  • Man with the Yellow Hat: It looks like we need some things for dinner, George.
  • Narrator: Said the man with the yellow hat. So off they go to their little blue car.
  • (cut to the supermarket)
  • Narrator: It was very crowded. The manager looked worried.
  • Man with the Yellow Hat: What's the matter?
  • Narrator: Asked the man.
  • Manager: Most of my checkup girls didn't come in today.
  • Narrator: He said.
  • Manager: I know who's gonna help and pack the groceries!
  • Narrator: A boy with an apron was pushing some empty carts.
  • Man with the Yellow Hat: You can look around while I do the shopping, George.
  • Narrator: Said the man.
  • Man with the Yellow Hat: See if there's anything special you want. But don't get into trouble.
  • Narrator: The boy was pushing the carts back down the aisle. It looked like a train. How can George make his own train? He was curious. There were lots of empty carts, George started to push them down the aisle. Whee! It was a train. Up one aisle and down the aisle. He pushed the carts harder and harder. It would be more fun if the train can go even faster. But they were rolling straight towards the front door.
  • Manager: Don't let those carts go down the ramp!
  • Narrator: Cried the manager as he saw them rolling by. The shopping carts roll out the door, down to a little ramp and enter the parking lot. Then they went clattering at every direction. One hit a car, one hit a lamp post, one bounced under the sidewalk and people had to get out of the way.
  • Manager: Stop that monkey!
  • Narrator: Shouted the manager.
  • Woman: Someone grabbed him.
  • Narrator: Yelled the customer. George was scared. (Curious George zooms past) A side door was opened and George ran into the store room. A white apron and a hat were hanging on a hook. George put them on. Now he looked just like one of the workers. In the supermarket, people were pushing their carts up and down the aisle. George walked past the checkup counter.
  • Cashier: Hey you! I need some help!
  • Narrator: Cried the cashier, and she pulled him up the counter.
  • Cashier: Start packing!
  • Narrator: How good that George was a monkey. He picked groceries in the bags in all fours. The girl pushed more groceries at.
  • Cashier: Better hurry up.
  • Narrator: She said.
  • Cashier: There's a long line. George packed little bags, big bags, boxes and cases. Now the line was moving faster.
  • Woman: We're getting some service now.
  • Narrator: Said the lady.
  • Man: I never got too fast.
  • Narrator: Said the man.
  • Manager: I got you this time.
  • Narrator: Shouted the manager, and he grabbed him.
  • Cashier: What are you doing, sir?
  • Narrator: Asked the cashier.
  • Cashier: All our customers are so pleased. He's the best packer we never had.
  • Manager: He is?
  • Narrator: Asked the manager. George kept packing, (Curious George packs the groceries) and the line got shorter and shorter. The manager smiled and turned in.
  • Manager: You shouldn't play with those carts.
  • Narrator: He said.
  • Manager: But you sure do make up for it.
  • (trumpet sounds)
  • Narrator: The man with the yellow hat finally got to the checkout counter.
  • Man with the Yellow Hat: Good work, George!
  • Narrator: He said.
  • Man with the Yellow Hat: Looks like you've been pretty busy.
  • Manager: He sure has.
  • Narrator: Said the manager.
  • Manager: And give a big bunch of bananas.
  • Man with the Yellow Hat: Save one for dinner tonight.
  • Narrator: Said the man. As they drove off in their little blue car. (the car drives away)
