Narrator: It was a warm summer evening. George and the man with the yellow hat decided to go to a drive-in movie. They parked their little blue car right in front of the big movie screen.
Man with the Yellow Hat: Let's go to the food stand before the movie starts.
Narrator: Said the man to George.
Man with the Yellow Hat: You get some popcorn and I'll get some lemonade and we'll be back here in the car.
Narrator: The food stand was behind the last full of cars. George got in line for a box of popcorn. He can smell fresh butter popcorn ahead of him. Mmmm. He couldn't wait. The line was moving very slowly. George noticed a little puppy. Maybe it was lost. It licked George's face. It was so happy to found a friend. Finally, George bought his popcorn and share some to his new friend. Suddenly, a bright light came from the big screen. The movie had started. George looked up and saw a single light coming out of the open window. What was it like inside the projector ring? George was curious. How can he get up there? Out of the open window was a delivery truck. George hold to the puppy in one arm, climb to the delivery truck. Now, George tried to look at the open window. But the light was too bright to see anything. He turned a way from the light. Suddenly, the people in their cars started to laugh. The shadow of George and the puppy was on the screen. They were liking the movie. As George and the puppy back and forth in the light, the shadows were moving far and off the screen. More people were laughing.
Narrator: This was funnier than the movie. The projectionist in the booth heard all the laughing at heart. What was going on? He stuck his head out the window and saw George and the puppy standing in the light of the projector.
Projectionist: Hey you! Get down from there!
Narrator: He shouted. With the puppy under one arm, George quickly got down from the top of the truck. The projectionist came running out to chase him and was just about to catch him.
Projectionist: Wait! That's my puppy!
Narrator: And a woman came running up to George. The man with the yellow hat was right behind her. The woman took the puppy from George and gave her a big hug. Then she turned to George.
Woman: (off-screen) You saved the day!
Narrator: She shouted.
(trumpet sounds slower)
Woman: I thought I lost my puppy for good. Until I saw the shadow on the screen.
Man with the Yellow Hat: I was so glad to see your shadow, George.
Narrator: Said the man with the yellow hat.
Man with the Yellow Hat: I thought I lost you too.
Narrator: Said the projectionist.
Projectionist: I guess I'm glad people had a chance to see you on the screen after all. Now you better get back to your car or you'll miss the rest of the movie.
Narrator: George and the man with the yellow hat ate what was left in the popcorn, grabbed their lemonade and watched the movie.
